My Creative Space: My foxy valentine

I've been playing around some more with my fox heart drawing.  I've painted the foxes with watercolour, put it on a background and I'm experimenting with some hand-drawn text, typed text and different messages.  I should really hurry up and get it printed!

I'm thinking about turning the foxes into a fabric design too...I've got Heather Ross Prints out from the library and it has a great looking tutorial for turning drawings into fabric designs in Photoshop.  Some op shop finds today have got me itching to do some sewing too!

How about you, what have you been making?

Foxy

The other day I asked Mr. Millicent Crow what the most romantic thing you could have on a Valentine's Day card would be.  Without hesitating he replied "Two foxes facing each other with their tails making a heart."  So because that's the most romantic thing you could have on a Valentine's Day card that's what I've decided to make into Valentine's Day cards.  I think I'm going to paint the foxes with watercolour but here's where it's up to now:
In ink

and in pencil

Romantic suggestions for messages to put inside the heart welcome.  At the moment I'm thinking of "Happy Valentine's Day...you fox!"

The balance

I noticed that my internet banking has a function where you can get it to make a pie chart of what you spend your money on.  It reminded me of something I read...maybe in Frankie magazine...about a girl who set herself a challenge of drawing everything she purchased.  I think I like that idea better, time consuming though it would be!  For what it's worth, here's what I did and didn't buy at the op shop the other day.
I bought:

And I didn't buy:

I wonder what that says about my spending habits?  Maybe I need a pie chart.

South

Here are some more of the Antarctic drawings I've been doing - I was still inking the top one in the middle of the night of the deadline! Now that the drawing part of the project is finished I keep wanting to do more drawings to add to it.  Maybe my party trick will have to be drawing pictures of the Endurance really fast!

Tour dates for the Explorers' Club shows are here.

Made in 2012

I thought I'd do a little collage of some of the things I made in 2012.  There was lots of watercolour painting, not so much oil painting, lots of pouch sewing, not so much sewing for myself, lots of photoshop practice, some screen printing, new brooches, new digital prints and a monkey man!  I've got a bunch of creative plans for this year at Millicent Crow HQ, here's to a crafty 2013!

Moving pictures

I'm on the homeward stretch of the pictures I'm drawing for the Antarctic project I'm working on with Mr. Millicent Crow, although I still have to draw another picture of Shackleton's ship tonight, something I've been procrastinating about terribly as I find boats super hard to draw.  I've also spent the last couple of days drawing a frostbitten hand and a mouth showing the effects of scurvy, possibly the grossest things I have ever had to draw!  This morning we had a play with projecting the drawings onto the walls of our lounge and it was so exciting to see my drawings giant and moving!

That clock reminds me that I should stop procrastinating and draw Shackleton's ship.  It wasn't called the Endurance for nothing!

Happy new year!

We got back from out new year's adventuring to Whatipu and Raglan last night and I decided that a new year deserved a new inspiration board.  I had all these pictures tucked away, some from my old inspiration board and some that I had been hoarding for a long time.
The owl is one of my favourites - it's a portrait the wonderful Graham Percy did of his wife.

A very happy new year to you, may it bring lots of inspiration!
